Solo Exhibition Oct 8th Brooklyn NY!
Hello everyone!
I'm having a solo exhibition opening next week!
Hope you can come to the opening reception.
This is the first time showing mostly my ceramic work in NY.
I have been very lucky finding very good ceramic studios to work in NY, the series I will show this time are mostly the work I made at Brick House Ceramic Art Center in LIC. (And I will have some work from Greenwich House Pottery) It was a challenging to get use to new clay and glaze but with many people's help at Brick House, I was able to complete this series which I'm very happy with. Very big thank you to Brick House.
I hope you can come and see the show!

Grace and Ritual: Hidden opening May 9th LA
Hello!I am 8 bit is putting together a group show in L.A. I have one ceramic sculpture in this show, if you are in L.A Please come and visit my little ceramic friend! You can see more info at: https://www.facebook.com/events/1539734432919779/
For this group show I made this "ToTai Island Cave Seal Ritual Mask"
<Making of> It's made out of Ceramic Clay --> Black and white slip--->Clear Glazed
Black Slip with clear glaze created a very nice deep blue. Finishing up making the headdress with colorful Pompoms.
<What is Cave seal ritual mask?!> In ToTai Island (this is my imaginary island) every house owns their version of unique cave seal mask. When there is an event of the island or the family they put the mask on their door to announce. Depending on how headdress is display people in the island know exactly what the event is.
Here is some example! Marriage in the family
When the Island is fighting with other tribe
Now you can visit ToTai Island and you know what's going on when you see the mask at someone's door!
Nap time YEA!
Little sneak preview for a tiny book and tiny sculpture I'm working on now. "Nap time! what do you want to sleep on little cats and dogs???" "On this Miss, Nap time YEAAAA!" Sketches and tiny clay shapes Painting tiny faces with gouache Working on the drawing part of the book My cat use to do this impossible pose!
For Carrot Salad???
Don't cry for Miss.Q
Hello from ceramic studio. This past 3 months were the hardest ceramic making for me. I was making a sculpture call Miss.Q for about a month then sadly Miss.Q broke in the kiln... Then my friend told me Miss.Q could sound like Miscue (= mistake)... I think I cursed this broken Miss from the beginning! Then out of the sadness of the loss of Miss. Q, this piece "She fell down and cry some more" came along... It's still before the bisque fire and glaze... so let's hope this crying lady will come out fine. I'm hoping for the happy happy ceramic days for 2014!!!
Ceramic friends
some ceramic friends are coming out from Kiln. I have still so much to learn but slowly I'm getting use to the process.Ceramic is such a surprising medium, especially the glazing process. I would never know how it will come out which is very suspenseful.
New Lamp Shade ( Ceradon finished, I was debating on having it just white but I wanted to try out Ceradon to make it to have a summer water feeling.) Small salt dishes Microchan Torso vase + Cave seal with beret hat box Microchan Sculpture! planning on putting air-plants inside.
